Midwives are responsible for the well being of you and your unborn baby during pregnancy. Under our care, you will receive regular assessments including lab work, fetal checks, important health screenings, and emotional check-ins with you and your partner, while providing education so you can make informed choices. Prenatal appointments occur monthly until 28 weeks, then bi-weekly until 35-weeks. We come to your home for a home visit at 36-weeks (and bring your birth kit & birth tub!) and then see you weekly thereafter.
We will be in close communication toward the end of your pregnancy and throughout your early labor.
We will arrive to your home during active labor and monitor you and baby throughout your birth and early postpartum hours. You can expect intermittent monitoring of your baby’s heart rate, vital signs checks of the laboring person and suggestions around nutrition and hydration, activity and rest, and intervention if the medical need arises.
We will stay in your home for the first 3-5 hours after birth to assess the needs of both the client and baby. During this time, you can expect physical exams and vitals checks, a newborn exam, assistance with breast/chestfeeding and tidying of the birth space.
To ensure that the entire family feels supported during this transition, you can expect in-home postpartum visits at 24-hours, day-3, day-7, and 2-weeks; we see you back in our office at 6-weeks. More visits provided if the need arises.
If you feel most comfortable birthing at the hospital, but crave the intimacy and support of a midwife, hybrid care is a great option. Under our care, you will receive regular assessments including lab work, fetal checks, important health screenings, and emotional check-ins with you and your partner, while providing education so you can make informed choices. We will see you on a regular prenatal schedule: monthly until 28 weeks, then bi-weekly until 35-weeks. We come to your home for a home visit at 36-weeks and then see you weekly thereafter. If you choose, you can receive co-care from your OB-GYN to address any high-risk elements of your pregnancy, or to simply get more comfortable with hospital staff.
We will be in close communication toward the end of your pregnancy and throughout your early labor. During active labor, you have the option of an in-home check in to assess your well-being and vitals, an assessment of your baby’s well being, and cervical exam, if desired prior to your transfer to the hospital. Should you choose to leave the hospital immediately after birth, we will support you in your transition home and resume medical assessments of both you and your newborn.
*Please note that we do not join hybrid clients at the hospital. Doula support is strongly encouraged.
The postpartum care schedule will look different for each client, depending on discharge from the hospital. We will provide four in-home visits, typically at day-3, day-5, day-9, and day-14; we see you back in our office at 6-weeks to finalize care for this pregnancy.
We offer choices and packages for hybrid care. Choose from a Prenatal & Postpartum Hybrid Care Package, Prenatal Care only, or Postpartum Care only.
We’re here for you beyond pregnancy and birth! We provide annual exams, Pap smears, breast/chest exams, lab work, including STI testing, and can counsel you about other health or hormonal concerns.
Well Person exams are 90 minutes long and look at both your physical needs as well as your mental & emotional wellbeing. By assessing your lifestyle as a whole, supporting you in your health goals, and referring you to complementary practitioners as needed, your wellness is within reach.
